Few days ago I had come across an article which mentioned that people check their smartphones as much as 150 times a day.

Well this number can broadly go up or down depending on the person, but it is usually higher thanks to the notifications that we keep getting on our smartphones.

While there are some apps that notify you of important stuff there are many other apps on our smartphones that keep pushing annoying notifications what are of no use.

These apps have actually found a way to monitize using push notifications for ads.

but it is really not that tough to disable notifications from such annoying apps. I don’t need any third party app or a lot of learning curve to do it.

How to turn off notifications from specific apps on your Android smartphone.

Here is a video showing you how you can turn off notifications.

The tutorial shows you how to do it on yes xiaomi smartphone, but the process is pretty much the same for all the Android smartphones.

There there are basically two ways you can turn off notifications.

1. You can long press on the app icon on your home screen. (If you don’t not have it on your home screen you can drag it from the app drawer).

Once you are done, you will get an option of app info, tap on heat to reach the app info page what a particular app in the apps manager.

Then scroll down to the permissions section and find a Notification, you can turn off notifications by using the toggle button on the right hand side.

2. Similarly there is another way you can turn off notifications, directly from the notification area.

When you get The annoying notification from the particular app, complete long press on the notification to get the option to turn off the notification for that particular app. (this one actually works on xiaomi smartphones not sure if it falls on others as well will update this article once I confirm it).
