Have you ever thought how much will a smartphone cost that runs on Android 7.0, has a 1GB of RAM and has got a 4.5-inch screen?
It’s definitely not an impressive specs sheet but it’s not too bad either if you can get it for Rs 1,699/-.
Yes, it’s the Airtel 4G Smartphone, in fact, it’s their second affordable 4G Smartphone, first was with Karbonn.
Airtel is now in talks with Lava, another local Mobile Manufacturer, to bring yet another affordable smartphone that will effectively cost you just Rs 1,699/-
Though the actual price of the phone is said to be Rs 3,500/- according to this report by Trak.in, the company will offer cash back to the customers so that the phone would actually cost way less than it’s original price.
How is Airtel able to sell it at such a low price?
Now it’s definitely not a charity, they are indirectly selling their services.
As I mentioned in my other article of Budget 4G Smartphones, it’s like a rented device so that they can sell their services for a fixed period of time.
So there is going to be a minimum monthly recharge that needs to be done in order to keep the phone.
The minimum recharge set for each month is said to be Rs 169 for next three years for both Karbonn as well as Lava mobiles.
Rs 169 recharge would bring 500MB of 4G data per day along with unlimited calling to any network.
So, we now have got 3 4G enabled smartphones under Rs 2000, two from Airtel and one from Reliance Jio.
