If you want to work outside of India you will require a job visa and be getting a job visa depends on the company you are going to join.

There are a number of formalities that need to be taken care of if you want to apply for the job visa. One of the formalities is to get a good conduct certificate.

Follow the guide below to apply for a good conduct certificate in India.

Step 1

The first step is to write an application to the SSP office, find the sample below.
Since all the government offices in Northern of India promote the Hindi language most of the work is done in Hindi, so for a faster processing, I would recommend you write the application in Hindi.

After writing the application you can submit it to the SSP office of your city, the fees for submitting the application is Rs 50. Once your application is submitted you will be given the four digit reference number which will be mentioned in the application itself.

Step 2

Take the application to your local police station, where you will get the character certificate which looks something like this.

Fill up the form and take it to the local intelligence unit (LIU) where the reference number given by the SSP office will be verified and you will be given another reference number of 4 digits.
It usually takes a few days to get the character certificate attested but you can request to the office clerk to give you on an urgent basis, something which is usually done in the government offices of India.

Once the character certificate has been attested by both your local police station and LIU, you can submit it along with your good conduct certificate application.

I would advise you to get the good conduct certificate printed on a pa fine, good quality per along with your passport size photograph because the quality of the paper the SSP office will print the good conduct certificate on will, ironically, not be of good quality.

Step 3

After you have printed out the good conduct certificate yourself you will have to submit the following things

  1. The good conduct certificate
  2. The application that was written for the good conduct certificate
  3. The character certificate verified by both, your local police station, and LIU.
  4. Photocopy of your passport and Aadhar card

Once you have got the following things you can submit them to the SSP office, you will get the good conduct certificate on the same day or the next day.

Here he is how my good conduct certificate looks like

Note: The PVR number is the reference number given by SSP office

Copy the good conduct certificate format from below and paste it into MS Word, Fill it up and print it out.
