So, finally when the RealMe 2 Pro has been launched in India and we now know the price specs and availability. The smartphone retails at Rs 13999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage Option.
People have started comparing it with other Smartphones available in the Simla price range.
And the most obvious the contender of the RealMe 2 Pro is the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which has been available in the market from last few months and has been tagged as the best selling smartphone in its category being priced at Rs 14999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB Option.
So, if you are currently in the market for buying a new smartphone with a budget of Rs 15000, comparing these two smartphones will make sense and we will try to help you decide which smartphone is best for you.
Let’s talk about the design
Clearly, the RealMe 2 Pro is a winner here, because of the new and refreshing design, Realme was initially the part of Oppo and now that it is an independent company, it still gets its design inspiration from Oppo.
The Dewdrop Notch in the Realme 2 Pro makes the display of the smartphone quite appealing in comparison to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Though a lot of people hate to have a Notch on their smartphones, we have to agree that it is the notch that makes it possible for the phone manufacturers to give a larger aspect ratio.
So, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro gives 18:9 aspect ratio, the Realme 2 Pro has 19.5:9 thanks to the Dewdrop notch.
It is almost absolutely brilliant to see a display like this in a smartphone like RealMe 2 Pro.
And it’s not just that display, the overall design of the smartphone is quite amazing in comparison to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
If you are a fan of metallic body is then you will prefer Redmi Note 5 Pro more, since the RealMe 2 Pro is having a polycarbonate body which is a Plastic body in Plain English.
And again, thanks to the Dewdrop notch, the taller Oppo Realme 2 Pro gives you a 6.3 inch of the display with 1080×2340 pixels in comparison to the 5.99 inches on the Redmi Note 5 Pro with 1080×2160 pixels
Let’s talk about the specifications
Even in this department, if you start with the chipset, the RealMe 2 Pro is a clear winner, since it is powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset in comparison to Snapdragon 636 on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Xiaomi’s other smartphone, the Xioami Mi A2 has got the Snapdragon 660 and they themselves have claimed that Snapdragon 660 is 40% more powerful than Snapdragon 636.
Not just the chipset, the GPU is also better on the RealMe 2 Pro, it has Adreno 512 against Adreno 509 on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
The plastic body on RealMe 2 Pro makes the smartphone a little lighter than Redmi Note 5 Pro (approx 9 grams), despite being a little taller. However, the 3500mAh battery could also be the reason, since the Redmi Note 5 Pro has got 4000mAh.
Mostly all the other specifications are quite similar and the usuals are available in both are smartphones, such as the 3.5 mm audio jack, availability of Dual Sim slots, with dedicated microSD slot available only on Realme 2 Pro.
Let’s talk about the Camera
Both the smartphones have got the dual camera set up on the back. The Redmi Note 5 Pro ha got 12 MP + 5 MP with 5MP being the depth sensor, and the RealMe 2 Pro having 16MP + 2MP with the 2MP being the depth sensor.
There is a 20-megapixel camera on the front in Redmi Note 5 Pro while it’s 16MP on RealMe 2 Pro.

Let’s talk about other things
The Redmi Note 5 Pro launched with Android 7.1 but the update has been made available and you can get MIUI 10 on top of Android 9, while the RealMe 2 Pro gives you Android 8.1 with colour OS 5.2.
Both are smartphones have got their own Custom skins from the manufacturers, but I have always said that it should not be considered as a buying factor because it is mostly Android from the inside.
The colour OS UI on the RealMe 2 Pro can be quite annoying for a few things such as the inability to swipe away the notifications as you have to type on each of them to delete it, you will be mostly find with either of the custom UI if you use it enough.
MIUI, on the other hand, is hated by some and loved by some.
Which one to buy?
We have discussed the price above already, the RealMe 2 Pro is priced at Rs 13990 for the 4GB/32GB Model, while it’s Rs 14999 for Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Not only the RealMe 2 Pro is cheaper by almost Rs 1000, but it also is powered by Snapdragon 660, which is there in the Rs 16999 Xioami Mi A2. And even if we compare it with Mi A2, the Realme 2 Pro can be preferred because of factors other than the difference of Rs 3000 in the price.
The RealMe 2 Pro is clearly our choice over the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Both the smartphones are available on Flipkart, you can order them from the link below.
