The Android Smartphones come in various price packets, but one price range that is getting the most competition these days is under 15000 rupees smartphones.
Though Xiaomi has been bringing the best Smartphones under this price range from a very long time, we have finally started seeing other smartphone makers giving tough competition to the Apple of China.
This year, xiaomi launched Opera version for their last years best selling the smartphone, the RedmiNote series. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was priced at rupees 14000 (Rs 13999 to be precise), but it later sorry price increase of rupees 1000 and now the smartphone is retailing at rupees 15000 (Rs 14999).
A couple of weeks ago Asus, in Association with The E-Commerce site Flipkart, brought a phone, which they call a Redmi Note 5 Pro killer. o vs ZenFone Max Pro M1 has everything the Redmi Note 50 has to offer, plus a few more things to justify the claim of being the ‘Killer’.
In this post, we not only compare these two phones according to their specifications, but we will also tell you which of the following phones you should buy if you are looking for a nice smartphone under 15000 rupees price bracket.
Let’s talk about the design: Redmi Note 5 Pro vs ZenFone Max Pro M1
Talking about the design part of this phones, both bring the printing 18:9 displays, meaning there is no room for navigation buttons at the bottom, and they become on-screen buttons.
Both the smartphones are made up of entire aluminum. NCS both the smartphones have a 5.99-inch screen size, both look pretty similar in Length and width of the phone.
In fact, If you have to look at the back, Bose the smartphones have dual camera setup start before vertically on the left-hand side of the phone.
The fingerprint sensor is placed at the top center, and both the companies have embedded their logos at the back panel.
This Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 is slightly thicker than the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and the reason is, it has a 5000mAh battery compared to the 4000mAh battery on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Let’s talk about the Features: Redmi Note 5 Pro vs ZenFone Max Pro M1
When we talk about the connectivity options both the smartphones offer almost similar features, and yes both the smartphones have that 3.5 mm headphone jack.
One minute difference, however, comes to the Zenfone Max Pro M1 is that its dual 4G VoLTE smartphone, which means that if you decide to use 4G data on 1 sim, you can still make 4G VoLTE calls from another sim. This feature is not available in the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
But if you ask me it is not much of a deal breaker for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, because only JIo is offering calls over VolTE in India at the moment.
The Other difference in the Zenfone Max Pro M1 that many would seem to care about is that triple slot, for two Sims and a MicroSD card for expanding the memory.
Which means, you won’t have to sacrifice one sim slot if you want to expand the memory of your smartphone using a microSD card.
Let’s talk about the Performances
If you have to talk about the performance of these two smartphones, keep in mind that both the smartphones are powered by the same octa-core Snapdragon 636 processor. Which makes it really tough to differentiate the performance of these two smartphones.
The only way to find the difference in performance is by observing how will both the smartphones have been optimized to take advantage of such a powerful processor.
Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on Xiaomi’s custom ROM MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 (gets updated to Oreo via OTA). While the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 runs on Stock Android (Android 8.1). It is something that is being appreciated by a lot of Technology enthusiasts since not everyone is familiar with Asus’s very own custom skin for their Android smartphones, the EMUI.
Let’s Talk About Camera Performance: Redmi Note 5 Pro vs ZenFone Max Pro M1
Both the smartphones are equipped with dual camera setup. Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an aperture of f / 2.2, and 80-degree field of view, along with a 5-megapixel depth sensor as a secondary camera.
On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an aperture of f / 2.2 with a viewing angle of 85 degrees. Both the rear and the front camera is have LED flashes

On the front, MI Redmi Note 5 Pro has a 20 Megapixel camera with an aperture of f / 2.2. Xiaomi has Incorporated there’s a learning algorithm to take bokeh shots from the single front camera as well.
So is clear that the Redmi Note 5 Pro will give you a better selfie because of the features it has incorporated in the front camera.
Why ZenFone Max Pro M1?
Now that we have discussed the fairly good amount of information about both the smartphones, let’s answer the question why would you buy Zenfone Max Pro M1?
The first point that comes to my mind is, to be unique. When xiaomi has Redmi Note 5 as the most selling smartphone in India, it will be pretty common to see the same smartphone in everyone’s hand. So the Zenfone Max Pro M1 would be a little unique phone to show off.
The second point that comes to my mind is, it starts at rupees 10,999, the only difference is the internal storage which is offered 32GB, and the RAM which is offered 3GB, rest of all the things are pretty much similar to the other expensive variants of the smartphone.
So, indirectly you can buy a smartphone with almost similar specifications and design sense for Rs 3000 lesser.
And let’s not forget that it has a triple slot allowing you to expand the storage using a microSD card.
Why Buy Redmi Not 5 Pro?
Now let’s talk why would you buy a Redmi Note 5 when you can buy a Zenfone Max Pro M1 starting at just Rs 10,999/-
My first. Would be to talk about the brand value, in just 4 years of its operation in India it has become the second most popular smartphone brand in India after Samsung.
And it’s Note series was the best selling smartphone in its price bracket.
The other point is the 20-megapixel front camera with some AI algorithms in it. If you’re looking to create videos for taking selfies the 20-megapixel front camera is going to be pretty useful.
Even though the Zenfone Max Pro and one have a 5000 mAa battery, Redmi Note 5 Pro lasts longer than 8 with just 4000 mAh battery, which clearly mentioned how will the Redmi Note 5 Pro is optimized to use the power to run the smartphone.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched a couple of months ago, and it was pretty much impossible to order in the flash sale, but now with options available, and with the dirt being settled down, it’s not that tough to order Redmi Note 5 Pro.
I hope you find this article useful and this has helped you make a decision whether to buy the Asus Zenfone Max Pro 1 or the Redmi Note 5 Pro
