When Xioami refreshed its Redmi series in India a few weeks ago it introduced in a new smartphone, the Xioami Redmi 6 Pro. It is actually the same smartphone which was launched as Xioami MI A2 Lite globally.
The only difference between the Indian variant with a global variant is the Redmi 6 Pro comes with MIUI 9.5. The smartphone also comes with a ‘Notch’ on the display which makes it the first Redmi smartphone from Xioami to have a ‘Notch’ display.
While it is a completely new segment different from the Redmi Note series which is yet to see a refresh for this year, it is here to compare both the Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5 Pro just to give you an idea which one would be a better deal considering the Redmi note 5 Pro has been there in the market from last few months.
Let’s talk about the design
The Redmi 6 Pro has an aluminium built with plastic caps on the top in the bottom. All the buttons in the ports on the smartphone are pretty much similar to every other smartphone offered by Xioami in this similar price range.
The Redmi note 5 Pro comes with similar design sense with aluminium built and plastic caps on the top and bottom. Even the ports and the buttons on the smartphones are in a similar sense.
Both are smartphones have similar weight as well with Redmi Note 5 Pro being a few grams heavier, despite that the Redmi 6 Pro is thicker, having 8.8 mm of thickness in comparison to the 8.1 mm thickness on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Also, since Redmi 6 Pro is recently launched smartphone it comes with a ‘Notch’ which slowly made its way to the budget category.
“Currently, only the RealMe 2 offers the Notch display in the budget segment.”
Since there is a ‘Notch’ display on the Redmi 6 Pro it also has a larger aspect ratio of 19:9 in comparison to the 18:9 on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Frankly speaking, the largest petrol doesn’t really make a lot of difference apart from having a taller display.
Lets talk about the camera
Both the smartphones are again offering similar specifications for the camera as both of them have 12 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 5 MP depth sensor.
Both smartphones are capable of recording videos in full HD at 30 frames per second but the Redmi 6 Pro plants with a gyro-based EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization)
Let’s talk about Processor and performance
Coming to the important aspect of a smartphone, the Processor, Redmi note 5 Pro powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Processor which was the latest Processor in this range when the Redmi note 5 Pro was launched.
We have got other chipsets in the 600 series, but since Redmi series is a budget one, Xioami has put Snapdragon 625 in the Redmi 6 Pro. Which is why the Redmi Note 5 Pro is still more powerful than the Redmi 6 Pro.
But it also comes with a price which is a few thousand rupees more than the Redmi 6 Pro.
The Redmi 6 Pro retails at Rs 10999 while the Redmi Note 5 Pro is available at Rs 14999.
The only thing which is better on the Redmi Note 5 Pro for that extra Rs 4000 is the Snapdragon 636, apart from that, the Xioami Redmi 6 Pro should be a better option especially if your budget is around Rs 10000/-, you can stretch it up to Rs 11000 and get this Smartphone.
