Although, the year 2018 has long gone and we have already crossed the first quarter of 2019.

I still wanted to do this post, to document what all are the smartphones Xiaomi launched in the year 2018 for the purpose of reference for future articles.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Xiaomi started the mix series in 2016 when they took a bold step in launching and all screen smartphone, which was still a very new thing to do in 2016.

The year 2017 so its second generation the MI mix 2 and in 2018 it introduced its third generation, the MI mix 3, which came as a truly all screen smartphone with a magnetic slider to pop out the front camera.

Interestingly there were a couple of Smartphones that it was launched in 2018 with pretty much similar pattern of having an all screen front display, we have listed search smartphones in a separate article which you can check out.

Xiaomi Mi A2

It was another great smartphone series started by Xiaomi in the year 2017.

The smartphone was mainly targeted at camera enthusiasts. It was probably the first smartphone from Xiaomi with the dual camera set up at the back.

Another key highlight of the smartphone was, the operating system was stock Android, which was the first time Xiaomi launched a smartphone with stock Android.

The second generation that came in 2018 was the MI A2, to which took the trend forward improving the camera capability is of the smartphones along with having stock Android experience on it.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3

The Xiaomi Mi Max is another amazing series from Xiaomi, this too who started in 2016, and I actually owned the original one.

I was pretty impressed with the Smartphone and its battery capacity, and Xiaomi kept improving it by adding more battery and improving the camera and overall performance of the smartphone.

In fact, in 2017 they launched the MI Max 2, you to which brought some really decent improvements despite downgrading the chipset.

In 2018, Xiaomi launched the Mi Max 3, which has an increased screen of 6.99 inches along with an even huge battery of 5500mAh.

The smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 710 processor, in the dual camera set up included at 20 Megapixel + 5-megapixel camera.

The Mi Max series is surely one beast of a smartphone for those who just do not want to stop their entertainment at any cost.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Xiaomi Redmi Note series is their most selling smartphone series, at least in India, and the first quarter of 2018 they had launched it.

It came with the design refresh which looked even more appealing along with the new and trendy 18:9 aspect ratio display having a screen size of 5.99 inches.

Also, the smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 625 and had a huge battery of 4000mAh.

The price was the most appealing factor of the smartphone since it was retailing for Rs 9999 in India.

Xioami Redmi Note 5 Pro

Along with the Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi introduced a new category in 2018 by introducing a pro version, which magazine some really interesting features.

There was an upgrade on the chipset part, as it was powered by Snapdragon 636 instead of Snapdragon 625.

People also had another variant of 6GB RAM, along with 4GB ram. And there was also a dual camera set up at the back with 12 MP + 5 MP of secondary camera.

And on the front, Xiaomi included 20 Megapixel Camera.

Xioami Redmi 5

Xiaomi Redmi series Smartphone agent Ultra budget series from Xiaomi, and in 2018, they launched Redmi 5 which retained at Rs 7999.

And for that price the users work getting and nice looking Smartphone within 18:9 aspect ratio having 5.8-inch HD display.

Along with that, the smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 450 and it was available in three different variants.

The base started at 2GB RAM and higher one had 4 GB of RAM along with 3300mAh battery one each of them.

Xioami Blue Shark

Xiaomi announced gaming smartphone out of Nowhere in 2018 and, as the leaks about the phone started surfacing all across the internet, it quickly launched the Blue Shark smartphone in the mid-April of 2018.

Since was a gaming smartphone, it was powered by Snapdragon 845 processor and had 8 GB of RAM along with a dual camera setup including 12-megapixels + 20-megapixel camera on the back.

There was also liquid cooling Technology built into the smartphone for keeping it cool so that you could take the smartphone to Extreme level while playing games.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

Before launching the Mi Mix 3, Xiaomi brought some incremental updates to their Mi Mix 2, by launching Mi Mix 2S.

Since a new 800 series processor had arrived in 2018, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S was powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset.

It was also Xioami’s first smartphone with the wireless charging feature on it.

Xioami Mi 8

Jony also managed to launch their flagship smartphone the Mi 8 from Xiaomi Mi Series.

Xiaomi takes inspiration from Apple and is often called Apple of China the design of Mi 8 It looked exactly identical to the iPhone x.

The smartphone came with 6.21 inches screen size having 2248×1080 emulate screen, with dual cameras having 12 MP + 12 MP.

Again the smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset, in 20-megapixel front-facing camera with 3400mAh battery

Along with the Xiaomi Mi 8, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition was also launched which came with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a transparent glass back.

The Xiaomi MI 8 retained at $420 while the Explorer Edition was priced at $580.

Xioami Mi 8 SE

There was a lite version of the Xaomi Mi 8 that was also launched. It was called in Xiaomi Mi 8 SE (taking inspiration from Apple again)

The smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset, which was obviously I downgrade in comparison to the Snapdragon 845 chipset found on Xiaomi Mi 8.

But the price was also about half of what Xioami Mi 8 was retailed at.

For $280, the smartphone had decent specifications as 5.8-inch AMOLED display along with 12 MP + 5 MP dual camera set up at the back and a 20MP selfie camera.

There was it 3120mAh battery on the phone.

Xioami Redmi 6 / 6A

By the mid of 2018, Xiaomi managed to launch the 6th generation of their Redmi series, the Redmi 6 along with Redmi 6A, which is a super affordable smartphone priced at just under $100.

Both the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A were having identical bodies, offering 5.45-inch screen size with 1440×720 resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio.

Both the smartphone had 3000mAh battery along with a 5 MP selfie camera.

The difference was the processor as the Redmi 6 was powered by Helio A22 processor from MediaTek, while the Redmi 6A was powered by Helio P22 processor.

Xioami Redmi S2 / Y2

The Xioami Redmi S2 looks pretty much like the Xiaomi Mi A2 but the specifications have been downgraded to match its price segment.

The same smartphone is also rebranded as Xiaomi Redmi Y2 in some countries, including India, where it retails just under Rs 10,000 for the base variant.

Specification wise, it is a smartphone with a 5.9-inch screen, having 18:9 aspect ratio, the resolution is 1440×720 and there is a dual camera set up at the back which includes 12 MP + 5 MP and on the front, there is a 16-megapixel camera.

The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 625 and comes in two variants of 3GB Ram and 4GB RAM

Xioami Redmi 6 Pro

By the mid of 2018, Xiaomi also managed to launch a Pro version of their Redmi series, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro.

The smartphone brought some design refreshment to budget smartphones segment.

The ‘Pro’ tag in the Redmi series enabled Xiaomi to better the specifications and power the smartphone with Snapdragon 625.

Along with that, it offered a dual camera setup of 12 MP + 5 MP.  The screen size is also somewhat bigger than the Redmi series at 5.84 inches, having the resolution of Full HD (2280 X 1080)

Since it is a Pro version of the Redmi series, it got a huge 4000mAh battery also. The Smartphone also came in two different variants of 3GB and 4GB RAM and 32GB / 64GB storage

Xioami Poco F1

With the introduction of Xiaomi Poco F1 also so brought a sub-brand into the market, as POCO.

This was a strategic move to bring extreme competition in the market of flagship devices where Oneplus and Asus Zenfone had made their mark by offering high-performance smartphones at competitive prices.
