It doesn’t matter if you have switched from Windows to Mac OS recently or you have been a Mac user from a long time, you should be aware of a few, and troubleshooting tricks so that you do not spend the time scratching your head wondering how to fix this.

Where to use Force Quit in Mac
Mac machines, whether it is iMacs or MacBooks, robust since they are premium computers. They are smoothly able to do any task you throw at them.
But there are times when you find yourself in a situation where an app is not responding. The best option, if you can’t wait for too long for the problem to go away, you can force quit the application.
How to force quit an application, click on the Apple icon appearing on the top left-hand side, and then press the shift key on the keyboard. You will find ‘Force Quit’ for the current application.
Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcuts: Command + Option + Escape to get a popup that we have a list of all the apps running, highlight the app and then click on force quit.
And here is the third option as well, simply right click on the app icon appearing in the Dock, while pressing option.
The quit option will turn into ‘Force Quit,’ and then you can select and click to force quit the app.
Know how to force shutdown your Macbook
Sometimes you will find yourself in a situation where your Macbook stops responding, which means you will have to restart it.
But you can’t even restart because it is not responding in the first place, and you cannot shut it down.
That’s where ‘Force Shutdown’ can be helpful. Keep the power button of your Macbook pressed for a few seconds until the computer shutdown.
To start it again for the normal process of pressing the power button.
You can do this every time your computer stops responding, but if it happens more often, then maybe some things need to be fixed instead of force shutting down every time.
Know how to reset the SMC on Macbook
Here is another important thing you should know how to reset SMC on MacBook.
If your Mac is acting up, maybe it can be fixed by resetting the answer on your MacBook.
SMC stands for System Management Controller, and here are few issues that could be fixed by resetting the SMC.
- Your computers fan runs at high speed randomly,
- Your computer’s battery isn’t giving you consistent backup,
- The display backlight doesn’t respond correctly to ambient light changes.
- Macbook doesn’t respond to the power button presses,
- Macbook sleep or shutdown unexpectedly and you can’t turn it back.
- Battery doesn’t charge properly
How to reset SMC on MacBook Pro
Here’s how to do it with Macbooks having T2 security chip (usually found ine macbooks after 2016)
- Shutdown your Macbook by clicking on Apple icon on the top then sleep and shutdown, if it is powered on.
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button and wait for a few seconds.
- Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
Here’s how to do it on MacBooks without the T2 security chip.
- Shutdown your Macbook by clicking on Apple icon on the top then sleep and shutdown, if it is powered on.
- Press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds. If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
- Release all keys.
- Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
Avoid installing Apps from sources you do not trust
Apple has got the App Store, where you will find thousands of apps for your Macbook, so there is no need for you to download apps from other sources.
If you are looking to download something which is not available in the app store, make sure you do it from a trusted source.
You will save yourself from a lot of problems by simply following this.
