There is another article in the series of issues with newly launched smartphones and their possible fixes.
In this article, we are talking about four issues with Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL that was launched a couple of weeks ago.
The new generation of Pixel Smartphones from Google bring some exciting features that are on the Exclusive to the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL
Issues with Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL
The Pixel 4 is slow and laggy
now that the Pixel 4 in Pixel 4 XL are getting in the people where it is released, they are reporting the Pixel 4 is slow and laggy.
A video shared on Twitter by Artem Russakovskii, who writes for Android Police, shows his Pixel 4 XL drops frames while playing a 4K videos at 30fps.
I have some upsetting news. After only 2 days, the Pixel 4 XL is already showing signs of major lag, in loading apps and settings as well as major frame drops on video (4k30). Never had any such issues on the @oneplus 7 Pro.

And it is not just one person. Several people are reporting that there are several frames drops when they are playing videos.
The the 3D face unlock feature has flaws
Google, when added and removed the fingerprint unlock from their Pixel 4 and Pixel xl.
It also introduced 3D face unlock, which combines with newly introduced technology call to Sonar, to make unlocking your smartphone faster.
But it comes with its flaws, such as, even when your eyes are closed.
It makes it insecure since anyone can unlock the phone by just putting it in front of your phone when you are asleep.
The 90Hz Smooth Display only works at 75% brightness.
When Google was invading the Pixel 4 on stage, it talked about that it has got 90Hz, and everyone clapped.
What did not tell is, that’s more the display only when the brightness of the phone is 75% or more.
Oneplus is making fun of Google since it’s 90Hz display in OnePlus 7 Pro works irrespective of the brightness levels.
The Sonar technology Project Soli doesn’t work as advertised
Google started working on Sonar technology around four years ago.
It gave the demonstration of how the technologies are going to work.
Fast fast forward to today, the same technology i shrunk s to put inside the Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL, but it does not work anything like what was shown in the demo.

Instead, people can only do a handful of things, such as skipping songs in the playlist, snoozing the alarm clock.
Even these features do not work flawlessly as anyone would expect.
Possible fixes of the issued in Pixel 4 and 4 XL
All the four issues talked about in this article are mostly because of the software, which fortunately can be improved with the push of a new update.
The dropped frame rates and lag of the smartphone can be addressed with their software updates.
The limitation of using 90Hz display only when the brightness is 75% off is major to conserve the battery. Google may enable an option to use 90Hz display on in lower levels of brightness as well.
And as about the 3D face unlock, this too can be improved upon, and maybe the security can also be tightened.
And since the sonar technology is pretty new, Google can collect data about how people are using it and can improve it further.
It will also be interesting to see how third-party app developers can make use of this Pixel 4 exclusive feature.
