The external affairs Ministers of India, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj has announced that people of India can apply for A Passport using the mPassport Seva app which is now available in the Play Store and App Store.
Using the mobile app, citizens can apply for Passport online from anywhere in India. The app was initially launched in 2013 but has been updated to provide this new feature.
The original app is available on Play store under the developer Consular, Passport and Visa (CPV) Division of the Indian government. So make sure you install the correct app by following this link to install it for your Android.
How to Apply for A Passport using mPassport Seva app?
Step 1: After downloading and installing the app, tap on ‘New Registration’
Step 2: Choose your passport office from the dropdown list, make sure you select the passport office in the city you have all your government issued document registered at.
In case there is no passport office in your city, you can inquire about the passport office location for your area.
Enter the Name, Email address, Date of birth, and other information in the form.
Then create a username, you might have to make it alphanumeric to make it available. Then enter a password. Once your account is created it can be used to login to the app and track your passport.
Step 3: Now proceed by entering the Captcha code verification and submit your application.
Step 4: Exit the app and go to your email inbox to confirm by clicking on the verification link sent to you. You will be redirected to the passport office website, where you need to log in using the login credentials you just created.
Step 5: After you are done with your verification process, you can open the app again and go to the existing user tab.
Then login to the area followed by Captcha code.
Tap on ‘Apply for a fresh passport’ and follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Fill out the form as per your valid ID (Aadhar card, voter ID card, driving licence etc.)
After the process is done, submit the details and you will get a code that you will have to use to track your application status.
