It’s been a few months WhatsApp has incorporated the popular Instagram stories like feature to their app, and it’s already getting so popular.
Its called WhatsApp status and WhatsApp users can post photos and videos to it. The videos can be 30 seconds in length, if you try to post videos longer than that you get the option to crop out the 30 seconds you want to post as WhatsApp status.
When you post WhatsApp status, it stays available for the next 24 hours and you get to see who has viewed your WhatsApp status. Others are also able to see if you have viewed their WhatsApp status.

But the simple option would be turning the ‘Read Receipts’ off from the Privacy section of WhatsApp that can be found under Accounts from Settings.
Once you turn off the ‘Read receipts’, the messages you read, do not turn blue, the double ticks remain Grey, and the read receipts also work for WhatsApp status as well.
But it also comes with a trade-off, as you to won’t be able to see who has viewed your WhatsApp status, if you posted after you have turned off the ‘Read receipts’ option.
So, what you can do is, you can turn off the read receipts whenever you want to view someone’s Whatsapp status if you don’t want to let them know that you have viewed them.
And turn it receives back on whenever you post your own WhatsApp status so that you know who else is viewing it.
Note: Keep in mind, you won’t be able to see those people in the viewed list who have turned their read receipts off.
There is also a workaround for this if you do not want to mess up with ‘Read Receipts’.
What you would need to do is, access the WhatsApp folder on your Android device, you can install ES Explorer,
In the WhatsApp folder, you get a folder named ‘Media’ and in that folder, there is a hidden folder that would be a little faded, and it’s named .Statuses.
This folder actually downloads the files uploaded by your WhatsApp contacts as WhatsApp status. So you can access the folder in view all the status updates posted by your contacts.
And since you are not giving them from inside the WhatsApp, they won’t get to know if you have viewed their status.
