Western Digital My Passport External Portable Hard Drive Review

With Smartphones getting better cameras to capture high definition Phots and Videos, our digital library is growing year on year.

While we are thankful for services like Dropbox and Google Photos that let us back up our files, photos and videos in the cloud they are still limited and can do only a few  GBs of backup.

If you are a someone who likes to keep a collection of Movies, Documentaries or is simply shooting videos in 4K, knows the struggle of keeping the data backed up and accessible all the time.

Thankfully Technology is getting affordable and we can now get 1TB of portable hard drives in less than $100.

And that’s what I did,

I bought Western Digital My Passport 1TB Portable Hard Drive. It’s been on the market for years, but I only needed it now since it was getting tougher to keep all the raw footage available all the time.

The Western Digital My Passport is available for less than Rs 4000/- in India and less than $50 in the US.

*the prices keep fluctuating

Colors and Built Quality

It’s available in different color options, I bought the Black One because that’s the one that matches my Desktop’s color scheme, plus I feel black never get’s boring.

The built quality is not bad, but it’s not great either. It’s okayish considering the price you pay, I mean you are getting 1TB in less than $100. Last time I checked they were super expensive.

And there still are some expensive options in the market that are faster than your regular Hard Drives.

Yes, I am talking about SSDs, I bought a 120GB Samsung EVO SSD last year for Rs 4500/- ($50) I used it to make my 6-year-old PC fast (the boot time went from 45-60 seconds to 10-15 seconds). You can read about it here.

The design of  Western Digital My Passport Hard Drive is quite unique, half of the body is glossy and half of it has a Matte finish, it looks cool, even in plain black, but the shiny part is going to get a lot of scratches after a while. I took a great create of it but you can still see the scratches in the glossy part of the Hard Drive.

Performance File Read/ Write Speed

An SSD usually gives the file read/write speed of over 500mbps. In comparison to my Samsung Evo SSD, the Western Digital My Passport Hard Drive gives around 100mbps of read /write speed if you connect it using the 3.0 USB data cable that is provided with the Portable Hard Drive.

In my PC, which is a USB 2.0, the transfer rates were much lower, at around 30-40mbps. So you really need to have a USB 3.0 support on your PC or Laptop, most of the laptops these days have USB 3.0 port.

The speed doesn’t only matter in copying or pasting the files to or from the portable Hard Drive.

If your work involves in connecting your External Hard Drive to Computer and using a video editor to work on the files directly from the Hard Drive, you will need a Portable Hard Drive that provides the faster read/write speeds. Perhaps the SSD is more suitable (but it’s more expensive also)

This is why many people recommend an SSD for that purpose, but I am using Final Cut Pro Video Editor on my Mac (which has SSD Storage) to edit videos directly from the Western Digital Portable Hard Drive (connected via USB 3.0 giving me 100mbps read/writes) I didn’t find any problem so far, the workflow has been smooth.

1 out of 10 times I have seen drops in the frames while scrubbing through the video right after editing but I can live with it.

Choosing Between a Portable Hard Drive and an SSD

Talking about the Western Digital My Passport 1TB Hard Drive, I think is a better buy than an SSD ( which costs multiple times more than a Hard Drive) if you are simply looking to store heavy files and are not planning to travel with it most of the time.

Because if you do, you will have to take a good care of it for obvious reasons. It’s a Hard Drive and a fall can damage the Portable Hard Drive resulting in the data loss.

But don’t worry, it’s not that delicate, I’ve been traveling with it ever since I bought it, It’s usually in my backpack so that I can use the travel time to work for those files by connecting it to my MacBook Air

Taking about connecting it to the Macbook Air, it has a story to it, which is, it is not compatible with Mac out of the box,

To make it compatible with Mac, you have to format it with a filesystem that’s supported by Mac. Thankfully I was able to do that, you can read this separate post where I talk how to fix Portable Hard Drive compatibility issue with Mac, and this does not only work with this Portable Hard Drive but any.

So my verdict is, go for it if your planning to store loads of photos, videos, and movies and want to keep it handy, just don’t drop it (or buy some cover to minimize the impact).

It will still work if you are planning to edit videos (or any other resource intensive task) but don’t want to spend extra money on Portable Storage, got for Western Digital Portable Hard Drive.

And if you’ve got money, you don’t need this post baby, go buy anything from Amazon.

External Hard Disk Not Working on Mac? Here’s How to Fix It

In this post, you will find how to make your external hard disk compatible with Mac and PC both.

Videos are getting High Definition, taking up more spaces, and if you are a movie lover and like to shoot a lot of videos and photos, chances are you are going to run out of storage pretty quickly.

Thankfully these External Drives are not cheaper, you can get 1TB Portable HD under $70. 1TB is quite enough.

And portable makes sure you have them pretty much all the time. But what if the drive doesn’t show up on Mac? or maybe on Windows PC as well?

Well, a similar thing happened to me. I bought WD My Passport 1TB Portable HD because I wanted to keep my files organised, but when I wanted to copy the files from my Macbook Air to my new Portable HD, it wouldn’t let me.

I found out that the file system used for formatting the portable HD was NTFS, which is used by Windows.

To make it compatible it needs to be formatted using the file system that is compatible with Mac.

And the compatible file system for Mac is ‘MacOS Extended’ and if you format your external hard drive using the MacOS Extended’ option, it will work with the MacOS.

But, the limitation of this system is that it won’t be compatible with Windows PC. And I wanted to use it with both Mac and PC.

So the best file system is exFAT, if you format your external HD with this system, it will work with both Mac and PC.

Amazon Fire Stick vs Chromecast TV vs Teewee Which One is the Best for Indian Consumers

Amazon Fire TV Stick finally launched in India and with its launch, the Indian consumers have got quite a few options to choose from if they want to consume content from their favorite internet services on the bigger screen in the house.

There were quite a handful of options already available so what’s the need of Fire Stick? Does it offer anything extra over others like Chromecast or Teewee? we find out in this post.

If we talk about the Chromecast by Google, it’s in its 2nd generation, Chromecast 2 is currently available in the market for Rs 3999/-

Chromecast 2 has a beautiful design though it will be plugged into your TV’s HDMI at the back and you will barely see the device. The single HDMI will also power the device and your smartphone is the remote from where you can play online as well as offline content to your TV via your home Wi-Fi.

Teewee 2 is also quite similar to the Chromecast, in fact, it was the one that first offers the Offline files playback support. Teewee 2 does everything you can do with Chromecast, but there is more control since it has an app for Desktop as well so that you can play videos from your desktop to your TV.

Teewee 2 also gets powered via the HDMI slot itself, but a separate wire is given in the box to power the device.

Though it may not be as polished as the Chromecast, both in built quality and the software, it is made purely by Indians for Indians. And it priced accordingly as well. I checked the price on their official website and it’s Rs 2399/- but it’s quite a task to buy one since it’s sold out at all the places.

Now let’s talk about the newly launched Fire TV Stick by Amazon. Priced at Rs 3999/- the device is a direct competition to Chromecast 2.

Though the Fire Stick is available in the US at a much lesser price, their competition with Chromecast 2 gave them a luxury of keeping the price a bit high in India.

But they are bundling up quite a lot of freebies to make an enticing offer such as

  • 1-year Subscription of Amazon Prime Video for non-prime members or Rs 499 cashback for prime members,
  • 100GB Free for 3 months on Airtel Broadband & Airtel 4G Home Customers
  • Eros Now Premium Subscription for 3 months
  • Gaana Premium Subscription for 6 months.

There are quite a few more advantages of the Fire TV stick over the Chromecast or Teewee. It doesn’t require a Smartphone or any other device to control as it has got its own Remote.

The Fire TV is based on Android on which you can also sideload apps and use them on TV. Apart from that, if you are an Amazon Prime Video subscriber, it’s the only device that will stream it to the TV.

Apart from the Amazon Prime Video, there are a lot of services that are supported by the Fire TV Stick and makes it quite the device you can actually use.

The Feature of WhatsApp Tells You About the Stalkers Who See But Never Talk

There are more than 200 people in the contact list of my WhatsApp, but my frequent chats tab has only a handful of names. While I consider myself an introvert, it goes for a lot of people who are not like me.

They too have got more people they never message than the people they talk on a daily basis.

If all these contacts are family and relatives I can understand why you don’t even open their chats.

But if you are not talking to someone on WhatsApp doesn’t mean they are reciprocating the same. There will be quite a few souls who would be checking your Profile Pictures by Tapping, Pinch Zooming or maybe even Screenshotting it.

But you couldn’t know who these souls were until this new feature called Status (read Stories) released.

The new status which has replaced the old text version, now lets you add (multiple) photos or videos you clicked in last 24 hours and they automatically disappear after a period of time.

There maybe not be anything exciting here for people who use Instagram Stories, (because it’s the same) but on WhatsApp, you get to know people in your contact list, and who all view your stories.

To test it out go ahead and post a status, wait for a few hours, go to your status and see who all have viewed it. You will be surprised to be a few people who saw your status but have never even forwarded a joke in a long time.

*To see who viewed your Status, you need to turn the ‘Read Receipts’ in the Privacy section.

Is Google Really Going To Build An Ad Blocker for Google Chrome?

Guess what’s going on in the Internet world today? Google is planning to build an Ad Blocker into their Google Chrome.

Google reportedly made $20 Billion Dollars from Advertising last year, and yet they want to block ads? are they nuts?

Forget Google, the majority of the content on the nternet is supported by Ads, this is how Creators earn their bread and butter. Creating something in-house to take away ads will not be appreciated by the publishers. But wait, there is more to it than it is talked about.

It’s a well-planned move that is only going to benefit Google in increasing their advertising dollars.

Even though their revenue is growing year over year, it can’t be said for the Independent Publishers like me, who have seen fall in the advertising revenue. Their growth is because of the growing internet penetration and getting more publishers on board.

Now there are few publishers to put ads on their websites as if they want to pump all the oil from the ground. This is affecting the user experience and forcing users to install the third party Ad-Blockers to save themselves from such aggressive ads.

In fact, the usage of third Party Ad-Blockers is in millions, the most popular ad blocker, the Ad-Blocker Plus has more than 10 million installs on Google Chrome. And Google Reportedly pays AdBlock Plus to let their ads pass. and this is one of the reasons Google wants to build its own ad blocker.

If Google has their own Ad Blocker, they can control what Ads get banned, and it is highly unlikely they are going to block their own ads. Even if they offer such an option, it won’t be enabled by default.

People who are installing the third Party Ad Blockers on their browsers are going to do it anyway, but with Google’s own AdBlocker, it will have the option let their ads pass without paying anything.

I personally don’t find Google Ads aggressive, it’s those download sites (and a few news sites) that are filled up misleading ads that are making publishers like us suffer because the users mainly use Ad blockers for them.

While the news of Google making their own AD-Blocker for Google Chrome is not official many big publishing sites have given good amount of coverage, which means there has to be some reality to it, and I think it totally makes sense to bring something to Google Chrome, which will not only help Google but also to honest Publishers.

How Does Google Maps Know Your Local Traffic Conditions?

0

If the above headline makes you curious, welcome to the Curious Club. I myself, like many people, was curious to know this and had this question in my mind from a long time.

So how does Google know Live traffic Conditions?

Maybe Google is tracking us via Satellites? the fact that Google Maps has mapped every tiny part of the planet earth so precisely that many people think it also monitors the traffic via the satellites. It is not true,

then what the real answer?

Well, the answer is quite simple, it takes the data from people like you and me.

There are over 1.5 billion smartphones being used right now, and most of them have got Google Maps installed.

Google uses the crowdsourced data, that is data taken from each mobile phone and calculates the traffic in your local area.

Ever noticed when you are out at some place, like a Cafe or a Shopping Mall, knows where you are. That is because it is tracking your locations, and you may probably have allowed it at the time of setting up your phone.

So, the people driving their Vehicles on the road have got their phones with the Google collects their data and calculates the speed and the number of the vehicles that are on the road and tells you the traffic conditions in real time.

Now, these calculations are not 100% accurate but are helpful enough to decide what route will be fastest to reach your destinations.

It’s not just Google Maps that access your location, there are other apps that want to know where you are to offer you better service like Facebook has this feature called ‘Nearby Friends’ that will show you the real-time location of your friends. It even notifies you when a friend is near you.

Though it might be creepy for a few people to share their locations and Facebook allows you to disable that.

My favorite feature that uses locations is the Location based Alarms, a feature of Google Keep to remind you to pick something up from a particular market if you are near it. Read about more features here.

Facebook Wants to Destroy Snapchat, Here’s How

0

People using the suit of Apps from Facebook now how badly it wants to be like Snapchat.

In recent past, whenever they rolled the Stores’ feature to their apps I saw people cursing it since they don’t want Stories everywhere.

For a few people, the Stories on Instagram was okay, and people had kind of accepted it in last few months, but it’s introduction in WhatsApp, and later in Facebook Messenger is making people angry.

But Facebook is in no mood to roll back these features to make people happy, neither it has called it off.

What they are planning next is step 2, which is opening their camera to the new possibilities of Augmented Reality (AR)

“We’re not just going to build basic cameras, we’re going to build the first mainstream augmented reality platform,”

That being said, Facebook is not stopping here. Forget the filters, the users will be able to do much more than just adding a fancy mask over their pictures.

In their developer’s conference, which they call F8, Facebook has asked the developers to come up innovative features using their Camera Platform.

https://www.facebook.com/BuzzFeedTech/videos/1298622390258734/

The video shared by BuzzFeed gives a little hint of what to expect from Facebook in near future.

There are also a few reports that say Facebook will also bring a Spectacle like hardware that will utilize all these features to literally kill Snapchat.

Interestingly, In last few days, Snapchat has been criticized a lot of by Indian users because of the reports by Media that it’s CEO Evan Spiegel called India a poor country and he had no plans of expanding business operations in a poor country like India.

Users not only posted their anger on Social Media but they also went ahead and put 1-star rating in the PlayStore and App Store.

Well, if there were any who missed the features of Snapchat, Facebook is here for your cover by giving you an exact camera experience like Snapchat, or maybe much more.

Facebook Adds Live Streaming Feature on Desktop Site, Getting Aggressive on Video Content

0

We’ve done quite a lot of write-up about Facebook’s aggressive move to take on YouTube by bringing more people to create/ upload video content to their platform. A simple search of ‘Facebook Video, on Techtippr, will show you some good reading material (or simply click the hyperlink), in case you are interested.

Here is another step towards their goal, which is, enabling Live Stream feature for Facebook users via Desktop.

Yes, now you can shoot up Facebook in your favourite browser on your Laptop/ Desktop, and you can stream live to your friends if you’ve got a webcam connected.

How to Go Live from Facebook Desktop

The Live Video options is grouped with other options like Posting Photo/Video, Check in, Activity/Feeling, Tag/ Friends.

Once you select the Live Video option, click on next.

A new Window will pop up, which will be the Webcam window. The video appears on left while the conversations appear on the right.

Earlier, this feature was only available for Mobile Devices. And it made sense to make the feature available to the only Mobile audience because Facebook Live means you can broadcast anything from anywhere, and mobile is something everybody keeps handy.

While it is good to have the option of going live on Facebook from a Laptop/ Desktop. Computers still haven’t evolved to have better quality webcams, unless, of course, you buy Webcams like Logitech 920c, which is a $60 Camera.

But it seems it’s not just about giving the users option to go Live from Desktop. Facebook is actually targeting users of a rival service that offers the same features, and that is Twitch.

It’s the place where people stream their Video Gaming Sessions. However, I find it very unlikely that this move will persuade the gamers to leave Twitch and start using Facebook.

While it is too early to speculate what will happen in the future, but it seems Facebook wants to become everything from Snapchat (ahem Stories), to Google (ahem Audience Network, to YouTube (ahem Stress Video) to Twitch (ahem Game Streamers)

In the next article, I am going to talk about what is being Live Streamed on Facebook Instead. and why Facebook is far from becoming YouTube.

Microsoft Tech Support Scammer Ends Up Locking His Own Computer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Du6acZ-PZQ8

You may have read a lot of stories about Scammers portraying as Microsoft Tech Support, calling innocent people in USA & Canda, fooling them into getting access to their computer and infecting their PCs to extract some money.

Well, According to a report, over 2.2 million people in Canada receive Scam calls as Microsoft Tech Support, and over a 200 thousand people fall prey to them and lose over $3.3 million, that’s a huge money.

Enough of facts, let’s talk about Karma. and Karma is a bitch indeed.

Watch this video where a Tech Support Scammer ended up setting a Syskey and BIOS password on his own computer.

The guy was new to his Job and I am really enjoying the shake in his voice when he realizes his Computer is locked. This is epic.

NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD…

Jokes aside, this is a serious issue, if people still get scammed in 2017 for this? it will be a shame.

Here is what you can do to keep yourself safe from such people

If you ever get a call from Microsoft asking you to fix your computer, hang up. (read this notice from Microsoft)

How to Enable Google Assistant on your Android Phone?

So finally Google is rolling out their new avatar of Google Now, the Google Assistant to other Android phones that are running on Android Marshmallow or higher version.

Google Assistant was exclusive to Google Pixel Phones and was later introduced to a few phones running on Android Nouget.

And Now it is being made available to the phones running on Android Marshmallow, which makes it available to so many phones because Nougot is still far away for a lot of phones.

So here is how you can enable Google Assistant on your phone if it’s running on Android Marshmallow.

Step 1: Make sure you are running the latest version of Google Play Services. It has to be version 10.2.98, you can find out from App Settings- Installed Apps – Google Play Services – App info.

If it’s not, you can download and install the .apk

Step 2: Make sure your phone’s language is set to English (US). You can change it from Device & Inputs – Language – Set English (United States)

Note: Your Mobile might get unresponsive for a few minutes.

Step 3: Make sure the Google app is updated. You can update it from Play Store.

Step 4: Clear the app data of Google App to remove previous data in order to get the Google Assistant.

You can clear it by going to App Settings – Installed Apps- Google App -Clear App Data.

Step 5: Once the App Data is cleared, long press Home screen to get the new Google Assistant.

You will be promoted to Google Assistant and follow the instructions to configure.

Now, I know a lot of people were crazy for getting Google Assistant on their phones, because not everyone would buy a new phone for just a new feature (or perhaps some people did) but it was obvious that Google Assistant would be rolled out to all the Android phones on a later date, which it did.

And after using it, you will not find any drastic change in your life, it’s just a new feature which is obviously better, but not much.

So, if you are not getting it right now even by following the above steps, don’t worry, it will soon be enabled automatically. Don’t waste your time spending on rooting your device or doming some harm to your phone, instead do something productive.

I hope this article is helpful.

Facebook Now Let’s You Watch Videos Even While Scrolling the Newsfeed

0

Soon you will be able to watch videos on Facebook while browsing through your Facebook newsfeed, as the videos will play overlay and keep playing.

I just saw it in action on Desktop,

https://www.facebook.com/techtippr/videos/660663704105510/

So, in the desktop mode, the video keep playing overlay on the side, while I keep scrolling down, I have the option to drag the video player and move it anywhere I like.

I think this functionality is being tested and will be soon rolled out to everyone. And maybe, for Mobile users as well, in a later date.

Facebook has been aggressively building a strong platform for videos, I wrote about this a few months ago.

And a lot of changed during that time. Their video viewership is even bigger. I can say this because my friends have been sharing more videos than text or image based posts that were big in number a few months ago.

Not even this, Facebook keeps suggesting me videos from pages I haven’t even Liked, and they are also not promoting these videos. It’s just Facebook that things I would be interested in that video.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand that Facebook is going after YouTube, which is greatest Video site on the web. But Facebook is not far behind. It has its own advantages, like A billion people logged into Facebook all the time.

But again, the Videos on Facebook was nowhere to be compared to the quality of YouTube Videos, perhaps because of YouTube sharing Ads money with the video Creators.

But soon that is also going to change for Facebook page owners as it will also bring Monetization sooner or later.

Before bringing Monetization, Facebook will have to fix a few things, like some kind of Content ID to detect stolen videos. Currently, it has been allowing Page Owners upload even other people’s videos because all it wants is to gain viewership.

I asked a few questions to a bunch of people in my friend’s circle and all of them spend more time watching videos on Facebook than on Youtube,  as it provides better video watching experience as well as they have got their friends to share the videos with.

It Forces me to think that there should be something that Facebook is doing right and it is able to keep users engaged and stick to the platform.

Hack Facebook Account with One Click. Seriously?

0

Let’s talk about some hacking stuff today, Facebook Hacking to be specific, it’s the most popular type of hacking, considering Facebook has the most number of users on the internet.

Running a tech site, I get a lot of queries about different things, from why my PC is not working out how can I hack someone’s back account.

Facebook hacks related queries come somewhere in the middle, and I get a lot of them.

So, I thought I’ll finally write about it and let all you curious minds know how the one-click Facebook hack works.

How does Facebook one click hack work?

So, here’s the truth, IT DOESN’T

At least not without spending money. If you are willing to spend money, you can try out this tool called mSpy. It’s probably one of the best way to hack
Facebook Account.

It Doesn’t work at all. And if you, by any chance, find a blogpost, a tutorial or a software, chances are, you are going to end up getting your account hacked by them.

Because they know that if you are dumb enough to believe that a 100 Bullion Dollars worth of a company can be so lost on security that anyone with a power of a Google search can hack the accounts, then you are his target audience to get hacked.

So, my friends, there is nothing called free lunch, there is nothing called Facebook one click hack because there is a price to pay in both the cases.

While there is no one click solution to forging the security of Facebook, there are always some loopholes in every service or website. And this is why Facebook has a program called Facebook Bug Bounty. People reg rewarded when they report bugs to Facebook.

Which I think, is a better use of your knowledge, to secure Facebook, which has over 1.8 Billion people using it, and to make some quick cash. WIN WIN for both.

If you came here via Searching for some way to Hack Facebook, I am sure your quest will stop now. And if you already were aware that it’s not possible, I hope you are now confident enough.

Also, please share it with people who ask you to hack Facebook because you know the Internet better than them.

Get Rid of the Black Borders on External Monitor when Connected to Macbook

I’ve recently moved to a dual monitor setup with a single monitor, I love the space I get to work on, I just feel I get more productive.

But I still do the majority of my work on my Macbook Air, I use it whenever I am not in my Home office.

And sometimes there is plenty of work that’s pending. In order to make it complete I can either move it to my Desktop )with dual monitors setup) or I can directly connect my MacBook Air to one of the new monitors I got.

And I chose the latter because it is more convenient to finish the work on the same computer where it was started.

Firstly, when I connected my Macbook Air to my 23 inch Monitor, I faced an issue, which was different from this one, you can read about it here if you too faced the problem where you don’t get to choose the best resolution for your external Monitor.

Moving the point of this post, the black Borders on the Monitor.

When I fixed the first issue of getting the perfect resolution, I was welcomed by another one, and that is, Thick Black Borders across the External Monitor Display.

It was still 1920×1080, but wasn;t using the entire screen of the 24-inch monitor. After searching for solutions for several hours, I found a thread which could actually solve the problem.

I was connected my MacBook Air to the external Monitor via VGA cable and used a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter. The thread talked about people having issues with the VGA Cable. So, here was the solution.

Connect Macbook Air to External Monitor via HDMI Cable

Buy from Amazon.com | Buy from Amazon.in

I bought a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and used HDMI Cable to connect the Macbook Air and the External Monitor. I still had to use the trick of getting the perfect resolution and bingo, it worked. The entire screen was showing the Mac OS goodness in 1080 resolution.

So, if you too are facing the issue, try the above solution by using a different display cable type. If HDMI is not working, then try VGA cable. Or if something else worked for you, please share it in the comment section.

Make Macbook Air Choose the Best Resolution for the External Monitor?

I’ve recently switched from a single monitor setup to a dual monitor setup. Even though it’s been just a few weeks, I can tell how efficient it is to work on a dual monitor setup.

More screen lets you do more, and this is why I sometimes connect my Macbook Air to the new 24inch monitor and finish up the pending stuff I have on it. It’s super convenient.

Now let’s talk about the very point of the existence of this post, how to make the Macbook Air display the best resolution for the external monitor.

My Monitor has a native resolution of 1920×1080, but, when I first connected my Macbook Air to the Monitor, I found it really annoying to get only two resolution to select from, and none of it was 1920×1080.

I spent the entire day to figure out what is there that I am not doing, but I found that this is a pretty common problem. Yet no solution was available anywhere, After hours of research, I did find the solution in a very long thread of a forum.

And here it is,

When you connect your external Monitor to your Macbook Air And go to Display Settings from the System Preference, you have to press the ‘Alt or Option‘ key and you will get more resolution options to choose from.

I got the 1920×1080 option and the monitor started displaying a crisp extended desktop for my Macbook Air.

However, this is not the only problem you are going to face if you decide to connect your Macbook Air to an external Monitor.

I’ve written about this issue in another post since it is entirely a different issue and might or might not occur to you depending on how you choose to connect your Macbook to the external Monitor, i.e, the Display Cable you will use.

A Chrome Extension to Remind Yourself About the Poriorities to Get Stuff Done in Time

0

Had it ever occurred to you that we do our bests when we have a deadline?

Yes, the secret to getting work done faster is to know that you are running out of time, tik tok tik tok.

I’ve shared a lot of tips and tricks and tools that I use to get my work done faster, you can read all of them under the Productivity tag.

My current favorite (or say new addition) is a Chrome extension called Prioritab. I’ll talk about it in detail in a while, but first, let me preach you some psychology.

When we have things to do ( both long term & short term) in a day, week, month or year, we don;t really act on them unless we become aware that there is a good part of the day, week, month or year has passed.

Once we know that, our brain automatically starts giving priority to the work that is actually important.
Whether we actually do the stuff or not is a totally different game altogether, but it would still be nice to be made aware of the time we have passed.

And this is exactly what Prioritab does.

Add Prioritab chrome extension in your browser and the next time you open a new tab, it shows you exactly how much time has passed in a day, week, month and year.

So the next time when you want to open Facebook for some casual browsing, this tab will remind you to set your priorities.

Add Prioritab to Chrome
